Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel's name on the intercom of his apartment building in Nice. It alleges that the attacker was responding to its calls to target citizens of countries in the coalition fighting ISIS. French authorities and officials are not without concern about what is to come. Paris prosecutor Francois Molins said police had detained Bouhlel's ex-wife and were questioning her. A makeshift memorial of bouquets, candles and messages was set up near one end of the expansive avenue. He then took aim at the thousands who had gathered to watch the fireworks show, killing at least 84 people and wounding over 200. Among the wounded, 50 were "between life and death", according to Hollande.

Its 12,000 reservists are made up of 9,000 military police officers and a further 3,000 regular police officers. Two days after the atrocity, some families were still hunting for missing loved ones, going from hospital to hospital to find relatives who had disappeared in the bloody chaos of the truck's rampage.

Lenval children's hospital treated about 30 children aged from six months to 18 in the aftermath of the attack.

Bouhlel had been in France for 10 years and lived locally. Neighbors interviewed by French media describe a keen body builder who kept to himself, with some describing him as quiet, and others as aggressive, unpleasant and paranoid. Bouhlel's neighbours said he had a tense personality and was "frightening" to some extent.

Stephane Erbs was heading back to his auto with his wife, Rachel, and their two children when he saw the white truck bearing down on them. Authorities think the truck kept going 300 yards after he had been shot. Police found him dead in the passenger seat. Bouhlel was known to police as a petty criminal rather than a terror suspect.

Idris added: 'The heart of it is characters that you care about and storyline that you get engaged to as an audience'.
