Clinton using Republican convention to spur voter signups

Donald Trump is already battered and stumbling into the Republican convention in Cleveland.

The Hillary Clinton campaign has launched an ad that invites adults to imagine what a child might be learning from rival Donald Trump's campaign in an effort to highlight his provocative remarks, The New York Times said in a report.

Clinton's voter registration and mobilization project will aim to build upon the turnout machine built by Obama's two winning campaigns.

Part of Trump's negative image among Latinos is nearly certainly rooted in his harsh rhetoric about immigration, a top issue for many Latino voters who see it as a litmus test for how candidates perceive the Latino community.

A CNN/ORC national poll also hints at the possible rise of a third-party candidate: Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson. Both the NBC/WSJ and CNN polls, however, suggest that the state of the race has remained largely unchanged since the beginning of summer, despite a spate of stories including FBI Director James Comey's rebuke of Clinton for her use of a private email server. That represents nearly no change for either Clinton or Trump, but a 4-point bump for Johnson. Clinton leads with 42 percent, Trump with 37 percent, Johnson with 13 percent, and Stein with 5 percent. The share of GOP voters who say they'd prefer Trump as the nominee over someone else has increased from 51% in June to 56% now.

A whopping 76 percent of the 300 Latino registered voters in the poll said they back Hillary Clinton in a head-to-head race, while just 14 percent said they back Trump.

The results from ABC/Washington Post, which earlier gave Clinton an unusually high 12-point lead, indicate a tightening election. He also said he doesn't expect GOP opponents of Trump will successfully disrupt proceedings this week at the GOP convention.

He said Ankara, alone, could eliminate ISIS - though Trump didn't elaborate how that's the case.

But a new Washington Post/ABC survey showed Clinton down 8 points from her lead just a month ago, with 47% support among registered voters to Trump's 43% support.
