How Ivanka Trump Could Prove To Be Her Father's Most Powerful Weapon

Ivanka Trump said there were women at her father's job sites "long before it was commonplace". She reportedly urged her father to adopt a more presidential style and took exception to ugly nicknames he gave opponents. Clearly, Team Trump understands that they have a steep gender gap to bridge in the general election, and they may have wanted to pre-empt (or "triangulate") the issue ahead of next week's Democratic convention, when Hillary Clinton will ride it hard.

"As president, my father will change the labor laws that were put in place at a time when women were not a significant portion of the workforce", she said.

"My father has a sense of fairness that touches every conviction he holds", she said.

Ivanka was one of several speakers at the Convention to suggest that Trump's life as a real-estate developer made him something of an honorary blue-collar worker. Someone from the NY delegation shouted, "We love you, Ivanka!" In the announcement on her website last month, she wrote, "If you ask me, there's nothing more incredible than a woman who's in charge of her own destiny-and working daily to make her dreams a reality".

She asserted that he had more female executives than male at his companies and that women are paid equally as their male counterparts at his firms.

"I don't think his family can do much for him, other than humanize him a bit", said John Daniel Davidson, a self-proclaimed "never Trump" conservative and commentator for the Federalist. He said he is optimistic about the country's direction given the possibility of four terms of Trumps.

Ivanka Trump added that one of her father's greatest qualities is that he is "incapable of thinking small". His wife Melanie Trump should point it out to the man! Her tone of even politeness was an immediate reminder of the most basic way in which she has been said to be an asset to Trump's campaign: she must have learned her manners somewhere, and perhaps something could be imputed from that about how her father treated people. You can not drop words like "equal pay" for the first time in the 2016 election cycle and think women are going to applaud, look pretty, and say "Thank you".

"When Donald Trump is in charge, all that counts is ability, effort and excellence", she said.

"She's really tried to keep him protected and keep him out of the public eye so he can have some normalcy, which is so important".

"I believe that under a Trump presidency for 16 years, we'll have great jobs for all Americans who want a job", Mau said.

But last night on the insane train offered one glimpse of hope: When Ted Cruz went rogue, cameras caught a clearly furious Ivanka in an ugly snarl worn so often by her father and jabbing an accusatory finger, again, just like Dad.
