Wonder Woman and Blue Beetle confirmed for Injustice 2

At the absolutely packed Injustice 2 panel at San Diego Comic-Con Friday, the announcements came quickly as fans who waited in a line that stretched around three hallways were anxious for anything new about the game.

During the Injustice 2 panel today, it was revealed that Blue Beetle was requested by numerous fans, there's GGPO and a Tournament Mode in the game, and Supergirl rockets to Earth between the two games and is very pivotal to the two sides. The digital first series will bridge the gap between the first and second games.

"It was really important to us to bring Wonder Woman to comic-con for her 75th anniversary", said Creative Director Ed Boon.

"You're going to see so many more characters like Blue Beetle", Boon said while laughing at the huge audience reaction to that reveal.

While Boon teased Captain Gold, Blue Beetle, Swamp Thing and Doctor Fate as new characters to be added to "Injustice 2", fans are pitching their own pick for the looming sequel; citing the likes of Doctor Manhattan, Superwoman, Zoom, Grail, Matter-Eater Lad, Lady Shiva, Deadshot, Zoom, Vixen and Black Canary, Nerdist reported.

The Blue Beetle in Injustice 2 appears to be a more recent version of the hero, using teenager Jaime Reyes. That's not entirely surprising, given her upcoming movie and prominence as a member of the DC trinity, but what certainly is surprising is the new cast addition: Blue Beetle. Gamers got a good look at the game's teaser trailer and plenty of gameplay demos during E3 2016.

Injustice 2 comes to PS4 and Xbox One in 2017.
