Xbox Summer Update Begins Roll Out

Xbox gamers that have been patiently waiting for the Xbox Summer Update to start rolling out will be pleased to know the day has arrived, and over the weekend Microsoft made available the highly anticipated Xbox Summer Update.

The Anniversary Update will mark the one-year anniversary of Window 10's release (which was 29 July 2015). Hence, pretty much anyone can get Windows 10 for free, so Microsoft found a neat way to end the free upgrade promo but at the same time to continue offering the operating system without a fee.

Microsoft has finally released the long-awaited summer update for its gaming console, the Xbox One. There are still issues with the new Cortana however the team is working on it. All of the summer updates will also be on the awaiting Xbox One S 2TB edition on August 2. You can also ask Cortana to show you what your friends are playing, as well as a media player control. Users can also share their API implementations with other users in the App Gallery. As its title implies, Background Music lets gamers play their favorite tunes as they game on Xbox One.

As for the Windows Store support will be added to browse and purchase bundles, you will be able to redeem XBOX tokens, subs, games or DLC through the windows stone.

Based on "overwhelming" user feedback, Microsoft has also turned on language region independence. More supporting apps will come later.

The old Xbox voice commands are now replaced with "Hey Cortana", but you can still keep them available if you disable Cortana.

The other big new feature is the ability to play music in the background as opposed to listening to a game's soundtrack. Moreover, updating games and searching game information will be easier with the improved Game Collection interface. You can also redeem Xbox tokens, subscriptions, games or DLC through the Windows Store. Gamers can now pick any Xbox One supported language, regardless of the location.
