Margot Robbie Comes Back as Harley Quinn in Gotham City Sirens

Who would direct it, given that Warner Bros. seemingly burned their bridge with David Ayer over their mishandling of Suicide Squad? Expect Harley to be joined by two other Batman rogues, including Harley's BFF Poison Ivy and the Batman's on-again-off-again lady friend Catwoman. The sirens are devious, and absolutely one of the most entertaining teams in all of DC Comics. While rumors have been circulating around a project exclusively focusing on my beloved Harley Quinn, new announcements have confirmed that the upcoming film will tell the tale of the Gotham City Sirens, a comic book that featured a temporary team-up between Harley, her bosom buddy (and sometimes non-monogamous girlfriend) Poison Ivy, and Batman's archenemy Selina Kyle AKA Catowman.

Warner Bros noticed. Coming as a surprise to nobody, they quickly greenlit a spinoff for her to headline in before anybody could so much as say "ca-ching". Given that Leto loves to go rock climbing, he didn't take to that very kindly.

On paper, the new movie sounds awesome: like all DC movies do on paper. We've so far seen #7 actresses in the role of Selina Kyle dating back to the "60s with Julie Newmar (tv), Lee Meriwether, Eartha Kitt (tv), Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry, Anne Hathaway and Camren Bicondova (tv)".

Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie is returning to the live-action DC cinematic universe, and she's bringing a familiar foe with her.

However Gal Gadot, who will be playing Wonder Woman, said she hoped to have a female love interest in future movies.

Gotham City Sirens launched as part of DC's "Batman Reborn" line in 2009, following the death of Bruce Wayne in Final Crisis and the debut of the new Batman and Robin - namely former Robin Dick Grayson as Batman, and Batman's secret son Damian as Robin.

Polygon reports that Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn was one of 2016's "breakout comic book characters".
