USA warned of retaliation after missile attack on Syria

"It's very hard to understand how a political solution could result from the continuation of the Assad regime", McMaster said on "Fox News Sunday".

Speaking on NBC's Meet the Press, Haley said that "in no way do we see peace in that area with Assad as the head of the Syrian government".

Russian Federation maintains a close political and military alliance with the Assad Government and has been accused of supporting its attacks against Syrians opposed to his rule - something Moscow adamantly denies.

The strike completed a policy reversal for President Donald Trump - who once warned America to stay out of the conflict - and drew angry responses from Damascus and its main ally, Russia.

A United Kingdom government source said: "The important thing is that this is Britain helping to influence USA policy on Syria and Russian Federation, far from being a poodle".

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson accused Russian Federation of "failing" to "live up to its commitments under the chemical weapons agreements" in relation to the current situation in Syria. Because, if they're covering for Assad, then what are they really saying?

"We consider the act (the missile attack) an open invasion of an independent and free country", Major General Mohammad Bagheri, the chief of staff of the Iranian armed forces, said in a phone call with his Syrian counterpart Ali Ayoub. But in interviews broadcast Sunday, Tillerson said he sees no reason for retaliation from Moscow because Russian Federation wasn't targeted.

Haley made clear that the first priority for the United States is still to "defeat ISIS".

On Sunday, during an interview on CBS's "Face The Nation," Tillerson fired back at the senator and called his comments "regrettable".

As the ground rapidly shifted regarding the USA approach to Syria, Tillerson made it clear that Washington hopes Assad will not be part of Syria's future.

Lavrov says Russian Federation has lots of questions about the "very ambiguous" and "contradictory" ideas coming from the U.S. He says through a translator that it's important for Russian Federation to understand the "real intentions" of the Trump administration. Trump said he retaliated because Bashar al-Assad "choked out the lives of helpless men, women and children" with banned chemical weapons. And Haley, too, said Washington's priority was "no longer to sit and focus on getting Assad out".

The top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee says Trump's decision was a "reaction" to Syria's use of chemical weapons. Sen. A very small percentage of the people have been slaughtered in Syria have been slaughtered by chemical weapons.

"We've seen the evidence on Assad, we know exactly what happened", Haley claimed.
