Three die in Venezuela protests

Demonstrations against President Maduro began almost a month ago and since then, 15 people have died around protests-including one National Guard sergeant-and 11 others in evening robberies, said the state prosecutor's office.

The prosecutor's office did not specify the political allegiance of Tuesday's victim, though media in Lara said he was an opposition sympathizer.

Her comments came hours before Wednesday's meeting by envoys to the OAS to debate a proposal by Mexico, Brazil, the USA and 13 other nations to convene a special conference of foreign ministers to discuss Venezuela's "situation".

Maduro is not willing to continue "allowing legal and institutional violations, nor arbitrariness that surpass any moral threshold".

Protesters in Venezuela plan a high-risk march against President Nicolas Maduro Wednesday, sparking fears of fresh violence after demonstrations that have left 26 dead in the crisis-wracked country. The ruling was later partially reversed amid a storm of global criticism.

The latest deaths come amid a month of protests that have sparked politically-motivated shootings and clashes between security forces armed with rubber bullets and tear gas and protesters wielding rocks and Molotov cocktails.

The opposition launched a series of anti-government protests in Caracas and other cities about three weeks ago, and the government has accused right-wing leaders of attempting to create chaos to destabilize and topple the socialist government. While the country lacks food and medicine, the opposition strategy aims to force early general elections. Currently, a presidential election is scheduled to take place in Venezuela next year.

Rodriguez said the pressure being brought by the USA on some of its traditional allies like Haiti to punish Venezuela was considerable.

Last night Delcy Rodriguez, the Venezuelan foreign minister, told state television that she had been instructed by President Maduro to initiate Venezuela's withdrawal if the talks go ahead.

The U.S.is especially anxious about Caracas' supply of the Igla-S, the Russian version of the U.S. -made Stinger missile.
