Stephen Colbert Laughs Off Trump's "No-Talent" Criticism: "I Won!"

President Donald Trump finally clapped back. tearing Stephen Colbert a new one after the comedian's controversial takedown of the prez.

Stephen Colbert declared victory after President Trump called him a "no-talent guy".

On The Late Show last night, Stephen Colbert made his thoughts on the matter clear.

"The only thing your mouth is good at", Colbert said of Trump, "is being Vladimir Putin's c-- holster".

"The things you say, even if they're crass or even if they are in some ways not respectful enough to the office of the presidency, we can insult, he can injure", Stewart told Colbert.

"I'm anxious this puts Trump in a real bind", James Corden said on "The Late Late Show, where he also branded the President 'crazy". But even with a flashback sketch featuring everyone in (purposefully) bad wigs, a cameo from current Daily Show host Trevor Noah, and archival footage of field pieces past, the most interesting moment of the evening came when Stewart leapt to Colbert's defense during a one-on-one interview.

"I will give this to the man".

"There's a lot you don't understand", he said, addressing the President directly.

Trump touted the show's high ratings when he is a guest. Admirably restrained. But now, you did it. Despite news of the FCC investigating the on-air moment some viewers considered "homophobic", Colbert didn't seem too anxious, and ripped Trump for blatant hypocrisy about use of "adult language". On The Late Show, Colbert was thrilled with the response. And what he says is filthy.

Near the end of the segment, Colbert suggested a plan Trump could use if he really wanted to best the CBS host. And you have kids watching.

Colbert's show "builds up my base", Trump boasted in the interview. Evaluating popularity by Google searches is ridiculous - and not just because it's entirely possible that some people are searching Fallon (or any of the other hosts) because they hate him. "You got beat by 'low energy Jeb, '" he said. It was high highest rating. "The highest rating he's ever had", he said". Still, in the meantime no matter what starts trending on Twitter next, expect Colbert to still be on the airwaves preparing to satirize it as only he can.

But Colbert didn't regret the joke: "I have jokes, he has the launch codes", he said. He makes himself extremely easy to make fun of, especially when he's living up to his "Apprentice" catchphrase 'You're fired!'.

Still, as Colbert closes in on his second full year at CBS, it will be important to see how The Late Show continues to develop.
