Stone vows to cooperate with Senate committee

His enduring public loyalty to Nixon, whose face is tattooed on Stone's back, is the bedrock of a public persona that bathes in drama and celebrates skullduggery.

Former Trump adviser Roger Stone says he will "fully comply" with the Senate intelligence committee's request for information and documents relating to its Russian Federation investigation.

Stone dded that Trump, who fired Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey Tuesday, "knows" his opinion of Comey.

CNN was told the same.

But the filmmakers insist that such an assertion seems off the mark, especially considering Stone's much-publicized visit to Trump Tower in December.

It is noteworthy that, while Stone is adamant that he hasn't been the source of media reports claiming that he talked to Trump about firing Comey, he has not gone as far as to say that he actually didn't give Trump that advice.

Trump denied that Stone influenced his decision. This contradicts a Tweet Trump sent out Wednesay morning saying he had not spoken to Roger in a long time.

"The Roger Stone report on @CNN is false - Fake News".

"They have to remain confidential", Stone told "The View".

"He met Donald Trump through their shared mentor, Roy Cohn", DiMauro explained.

Stone was referring to Nixon's decision to fire Watergate Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox at the height of the scandal in 1973, which caused the top two Justice Department officials at the time to resign.

While Stone was jubilant, Politico reports that "shock dominated much of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the White House".

Stone was sacked by the campaign in August 2015, but his profile was further boosted as he repeatedly, over the course of months during the 2016 campaign, hinted at or claimed knowledge of Wikileaks' activities. Stone called it "odd" that Mike Flynn is requesting immunity.

Not long after the news broke, he retweeted from his "Stone Cold Truth" account a GIF of Trump, seated in his boardroom during a scene from "The Apprentice", with the familiar words appropriated for the occasion: "You're fired!"
