Trump Disclosed Intelligence Secrets to Russians

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson told "Meet the Press" host Chuck Todd that he is not concerned about his independence in the wake of President Donald Trump dismissing James Comey as FBI Director, NBC News reported.

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson says it is clear that Russian Federation meddled in last year's presidential election, and that Washington and Moscow will not be able to restart with "a clean slate". [.] I am devoted to helping the president achieve his objectives, helping him be successful.

"I think it's largely viewed that it is not healthy for the world".

The president's decision to fire FBI Director James B. Comey last week was the latest destabilizing jolt to a core institution of the US government.

The secretary of state added that the term "reset" would not be applicable to the US-Russian relations.

Asked why Kislyak's participation was not made public by the Trump administration, Tillerson said: "You'd have to put that question to the White House and the protocol people".

The Republican senator wrote in a New York Times op-ed earlier this month that Tillerson's warning against "conditioning our foreign policy too heavily on values" told oppressed people the world over that the United States would not help them if doing so comes in conflict with moves to benefit USA interests.

Asked what repercussions the Russians should face for interfering in the USA election, Tillerson did not offer any specifics.

Mr McMaster clarified his comments on Tuesday, saying: "What I'm saying is really the premise of that article is false".

He declined to say whether Trump, who in the past has criticized human-rights abuses in Saudi Arabia, would raise that issue during a planned speech in Riyadh.

But Tillerson reiterated his belief that those values should not determine foreign policy. "A policy has to be tailored to the individual situation".

Asked about the line between service to the president and service to the country, Tillerson says "I will never compromise my own values".

Trump is "listening to input from all interested parties in the region and understanding, in the context of a peace initiative, what impact would such a move have", he said.
