McDonald's UberEats Delivery Service Spreads Nationally

According to Investor's Business Daily, McDonald's will now offer a delivery service through UberEats, an online mobile application linked through the ride-sharing service Uber.

Customers in Los Angeles, Chicago, Columbus and Phoenix can now enjoy the McDonald's menu delivered right to their home or work through the app.

The fast-food chain is partnering UberEATS.

Since the feedback was overwhelmingly positive, the feature will now be available in more than 1,000 stores in the select cities. And Panera Bread in January said it would roll out delivery this year at 35% to 40% of its locations.

McDonald's isn't the only company, and certainly not the first, to launch an innovative food delivery method.

While delivery is clearly a compelling option to offer, it isn't a simple service for restaurants to add. Customers often spend less when ordering delivery, especially at casual dining chains that rely on alcohol orders to drive sales.

"We're not testing; we're rolling out", McDonald's CEO Steve Easterbrook told reporters in March.

McDonald's has not only taken steps to revolutionize their customers' experience outside of the restaurant, but inside as well.

"Whether you are at home or at the park, UberEATS has what you're craving ready to be delivered at the tap of a button", says Jason Droege, head of UberEverything, in a statement.

"We are excited to bring a new level of convenience and personalization to our customers in Southern California with UberEATS", said Paul Tulaphorn, McDonald's franchisee and association president of the local McDonald's owner operators group.
