New Shadow Brokers Message Teases Data From Nuke Programs, Windows 10 Exploits

According to a statement posted on Steemit, the Shadow Brokers are putting together a service it likens to a wine of the month club, wherein every month members will receive a new batch of exploits. What members doing with data after is up to members. It references its posting of screenshots of Windows exploits from its haul, a development it credits for Microsoft's release of an SMB (Server Message Block) patch in March, before attempting to justify its release of tools a month later in April, warning there was a lot more where that came from.

Shadow Brokers finished its post saying if a responsible party were to buy "all lost data before it is being sold to the peoples" then the group would have no more financial incentives and would "go dark permanently".

Russia-linked hacking group The Shadow Brokers has warned of a new release of exploits next month, in an update which will likely cause sweaty palms at the NSA.

It alleges the data could include "compromised network data from Russian, Chinese, Iranian, or North Korean nukes and missile programs", as well as exploits for Windows 10, handset exploits, and stolen data from central banks.

At least not until the Shadow Brokers released screenshots of the Equation Group's stolen "2013 Windows Ops Disk".

The Washington Post reported that NSA officials had discussed whether EternalBlue was unsafe enough for them to reveal it to Microsoft.

Hacking tools believed to belong to the NSA that were leaked online last month were built into WannaCry ransomware - also known as WannaCrypt - that swept the globe on Friday. "Heck, at this point, Shadow Brokers doesn't even need to have this exploit (though I'm guessing the NSA and Microsoft both may be erring on the side of caution at this point)", she wrote on her site.

Given the strong links between the Kremlin and the Shadow Brokers, the latter claim may simply be a hoax, created to keep observers guessing as to the group's origins.

"Because simply by threatening another leak after leaking two sets of Microsoft exploits, Shadow Brokers will ratchet up the hostility between Microsoft and the government".

Microsoft said on Tuesday it was aware of Shadow Brokers' most recent claim and that its security teams monitor potential threats in order to "help us prioritise and take appropriate action".

The US government said it seized 50 terabytes of confidential data from Martin's home which was stolen from the NSA and other intelligence agencies. That holding back of exploits, in theory, is the reason why Microsoft's Chief Legal Officer Brad Smith was so mad about WannaCry and the United States government stockpiling vulnerabilities.
