Graco recalls car seats; webbing may not hold child in crash

Graco Children's Products has issued a recall of more than 25,000 auto seats.

During a federal test of the individual harness restraint component, the webbing on certain My Ride 65 convertible vehicle seats did not meet federal requirements for breaking strength.

Only units manufactured on 7/22/2014 and that have a webbing code 2014/06 on a tag on the harness webbing are affected. The seat webbing may tear, not adequately restraining the child in a crash, the agency said.

The auto seats were sold nationwide and cost between $119 to $199. "As such, these auto seats fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 213, 'Child Restraint Systems'". Graco traced the problem to a single batch of webbing.

Customers can get replacement kits with new harness restraints and installation instructions. The recall is expected to start on July 17. Call them at 1-800-345-4109 or fill out a replacement form at the website below.
