England v South Africa, 2nd ODI

England take on South Africa in the second of a three-match One Day International (ODI) series at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on Saturday.

David Miller and Chris Morris needed 7 off the last over from Mark Wood to clinch victory but only managed 4 runs.

Stokes cashed in on his remarkable early fortune as his century helped England set 330 for six at the Ageas Bowl.

For the eighth match in a row, therefore, England found a way to win and seal the Royal London series with a match to play.

Stokes, who was cleared to play here after a knee injury scare in the series opener, added: "It's just the bowling that's getting affected by my knee".

Left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj was given an ODI debut in place of Imran Tahir, while Dwaine Pretorius and Farhaan Behardien also came into the side, with Wayne Parnell and JP Duminy making way.

He deceived Stokes with a well-flighted delivery that took the left-hander's outside edge only for the ball to go straight through Hashim Amla's hands at slip for four.

Quinton de Kock gave the South Africans an excellent start to their chase with a rapid 98 while AB de Villiers hit 52 to keep up the momentum, and it was touch-and-go right to the end as to whether they would get over the line. Stokes subsequently hoisted both medium-pacer Andile Phehlukwayo and Morris high over deep midwicket for sixes.

Things could only get better for Stokes, and they did dramatically: he reached his century off 77 balls with 11 fours and three sixes before being caught at long-off.

Buttler (65no), who had a close umpire's call for lbw on eight, went on to hit four of five fours in one over off Phehlukwayo as he and Moeen Ali took England's predictable big finish to 111 in the last 10.
