Jones: Manchester United not scared of anyone

Jesse Lingard believes Manchester United are "capable of anything" and expects them to challenge for the Premier League title next season.

Juan Mata says a "lack of consistency" cost Manchester United any hope of lifting the Premier League title this season, but he has "high hopes" for next term after ending the 2016-17 campaign with Europa League success.

It means United are one of five English teams set to feature in the Champions League in 2017/18, qualifying for the tournament via the more hard, yet more satisfying process of winning the Europa League. The road wasn't neither short nor easy, but we finally got our goal, so next season we will play in the Champions League, which is what this club deserves and where we all want to be. "We have learnt a lot from the experience and that can only help us".

In fairness, the Portuguese had the right to complain about how the Red Devils' fixture list had been set out.

Although, it's in the cup competitions where United enjoyed most of their best moments of the season.

Liverpool very almost won the league without having European football in one of those seasons, while Leicester City famously did just that last season and Chelsea in this.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has been celebrating his one year anniversary since taking over at Old Trafford on this Bank Holiday weekend, however, he will still be fully aware just how much work he has to do.

This is the last post of the season, it's time to take a break and wait for the next season to start.

However, regardless of what happens with United's current number one this summer, Ederson looks very likely to be lining up for rivals City next season rather than in Mourinho's side.
