Huma Abedin Is Divorcing Anthony Weiner

"Anonymous", in the Manhattan Supreme Court on Friday just hours after Wiener, 52, pleaded guilty in a federal court to a felony charge of transferring obscene material and admitted to sexting with a girl he knew was just 15-years-old, CBS New York News reported.

Weiner's lawyer, Arlo Devlin Brown, didn't immediately return a message Friday.

"He said, 'I have a sickness, but I don't have an excuse, ' which is like saying, 'It's not my fault, but I accept responsibility, '" Timpf said.

As part of the plea agreement, Weiner will register as a sex offender and will also have to forfeit his iPhone, surrender his passport and continue mental health treatment. "Through treatment I found the courage to take a moral inventory of my defects". But Weiner is likely to serve much less time if he is sentenced to prison.

Weiner agreed Friday not to appeal any sentence between 21 and 27 months in prison.

Acting Manhattan U.S. Attorney Joon H. Kim, speaking afterward to reporters, said Weiner's conduct "was not only reprehensible, but a federal crime, one for which he is now convicted and will be sentenced".

The investigation led FBI agents to seize his laptop computer, which led to the discovery of a new cache of emails that Hillary Clinton had sent to Huma Abedin.

The incident prompted then-FBI director James Comey to state publicly - in the final weeks of the presidential campaign - that the closed investigation into Clinton's alleged mishandling of classified material was being reopened.

That inquiry was brief.

Federal authorities said that Weiner started communicating with the teen in January 2016 through online text and video chat applications, sending her sexually explicit images and asking her to engage in sexual conduct, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of NY.

He ran for New York City mayor in 2013 and was leading several polls until it was revealed he had continued his questionable behavior. But Clinton, and others, have said the scandal was partly the reason she lost the presidential election to Donald Trump.

His failed mayoral bid is the subject of the documentary Weiner.
