Reality Winner, Accused NSA Leaker, To Enter Not Guilty Plea

Mugshot of Reality Winner, who is being held at Lincoln County Jail in Georgia. Winner, is being held for federal authorities at the Lincoln County, Ga., jail.

In affidavits filed with the court, special Federal Bureau of Investigation agent Justin Garrick said the government was notified of the leaked report by the news outlet that received it.

25-year-old Reality Winner is charged with Gathering and Transmitting Defense Information.

Her friend Ann Demasi took the stand and said the two have known each other for the last six years after meeting through the Air Force in California.

During the hearing, prosecutor Jennifer Solari said victor wrote in a notebook that she wanted to "burn the White House down" and move to Nepal or Kurdistan.

The charge carries a potential penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a fine up to $250,000.

A judge scheduled a hearing Thursday afternoon to determine whether to allow victor to be released from pre-trial confinement.

A Georgia judge on Thursday denied bail to Reality Leigh Winner, the 25-year-old NSA contractor accused of leaking classified documents.

Victor pleaded not guilty to one count of "willful retention and transmission of national defense information" during her detention hearing Thursday.

Winner's mother, Billie Winner-Davis, told the court her daughter had never been in any trouble and was at the top of her class throughout her school days. The prosecutor said victor also had photos of the leaked document on her phone.

Victor had top security clearance from her time serving in the Air Force for six years.

In the process, the intelligence agency noticed that the reports "appeared to be folded and/or creased, suggesting they had been printed and hand-carried out of a secured space", according to the official legal complaint. Her mother and step-father have repeatedly pleaded for everyone to treat Reality Winner "fairly".

"She served her nation with distinguished honor".

Since her arrest, victor has emerged as an otherwise ordinary young woman who like many Americans took out her dislike of the Republican president on social media.

And in an angry reply to a report that Trump said he wasn't hearing complaints about building the Dakota Access oil pipeline, victor wrote on Facebook: "I'm losing my mind". Victor was one of them.

Winner-Davis and her husband said they have spoken to Winner by telephone since her arrest and saw her briefly at a hearing Monday. O'Donnell has since been praising victor via Twitter, caller her a "patriot". The NSA report was dated May 5, the same as the document victor is charged with leaking.

"We have the burden of showing that my client is not a risk of committing new offenses, that she's not a risk of fleeing", Nichols said, alluding to his intention to have her released before the trial begins.

Victor followed Edward Snowden, WikiLeaks, several accounts with links to the hacking collective Anonymous, and several "alt" government agency accounts that became popular after Trump's inauguration.
