Ubisoft announces racing game The Crew 2

Following the announcement at Ubisoft's E3 2017 press conference, Ubisoft released a new batch of screenshots of The Crew 2.

Much like its predecessor, The Crew 2 is billed as being open world, allowing the players to go nearly anywhere they want in the US.

In The Crew 2 players will embark on their own motorsport racing careers in all manner of vehicle from cars and bikes to planes and speedboats.

The Crew 2 will be taking us back to the U.S. and taking us beyond the road.

Returning will be the open-world America and vehicle tuning.

Players who already played The Crew will be eligible for the Crew Rewards Program, offering up to 18 vehicles in The Crew 2.

In the expanded open world of The Crew 2, you can become the king of all motorsports. Every achievement you make is saved as a challenge for other players to complete. What we have instead is a vastly diversified set of vehicles, bringing bi-planes, F1 cars, monster trucks, boats and much more to the racing extravaganza.

The Crew 2 is coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One in early 2018, with a beta beforehand.

In fact, the huge map which recreated pretty much the whole of the U.S. (albeit scaled right down) was - and still is - the game's highlight.

And with that, Beley reckons "it's time to take The Crew way beyond driving". The Crew was an interesting game, but it was also a highly flawed experience that didn't really take advantage of its most intriguing concepts. From what Ubisoft has announced, it appears that the sequel will be the same: this is an online racer with the same always-on internet requirement for both story mode and multiplayer racing.
