Google's new tool is changing the game for job seekers

Google Job search feature allows you to filter jobs by industry, location, when they were posted, and employer. At Google I/O earlier this year, the company announced they would be attempting to tackle the headache involved in searching for a job online.

When you start looking for a new gig, it usually involves opening tab after tab of different job listing sites, then typing in a search query, followed by endless scrolling until you find something worthwhile. Here's how it works: Type in what you're looking for, anything from "jobs near me" to a specific title or field, and work through the results.

If you're signed into Google, some job listings will even show the approximate commute from your house, so you don't have to map it. Google had announced the Google for Jobs feature at its annual I/O conference 2017 in Mountain View in May this year.

Google for Jobs combs through major job sites and local companies depending on your criteria.

"This means you'll see job postings from these sites and many others from across the web as soon as they're posted", Zakrasek wrote. If you've ever used Google Flights to search for bookings, it's kind of like that. The tool has powerful search filters enhanced by AI and Google's Cloud Jobs API which make it easier to filter jobs in your area that fit your needs. Google is known to index everything, so it is also going to pull in listings from the company's official websites. Many listings will also include reviews and ratings of the employer. You can also set up job search alerts, similar to Google alerts, to track your job hunt.

We want to hear from you. Google takes you to a full job search interface if you tap on any of the new options.

The company said it's already working with a number of services, such as LinkedIn, Monster, WayUp, DirectEmployers, CareerBuilder, Glassdoor, and Facebook, to aggregate posts from their sites as well. Anything beyond that is not in Google's wheelhouse, he added.
