Bill Cosby sex assault accuser tells court 'I was frozen'

Cosby faces charges that he drugged and assaulted Constand, a former Temple University employee, at his Philadelphia home.

The woman at the centre of Bill Cosby's sex assault trial testified she was "frozen" after the U.S. comedian drugged and molested her at his home in 2004. In my head I was trying to get my hands to move or my legs to move but I was frozen and those messages didn't get there.

When cross-examined, Mason said that Constand said she had not been alone with Cosby before this night nor did she have much contact with him after, which Cosby's team disputed.

Cosby, 79, is charged with aggravated indecent assault and he could be jailed for 10 years if convicted.

The next time she visited Cosby's home, to discuss her future with the women's basketball team, Constand said the pills Cosby gave her left her incapacitated as he grabbed her breast and touched her genitals.

Constand then said her legs went numb and she later passed out before she awoke with Cosby sexually assaulting her. Cosby then penetrated her with his hand and also placed her hand on his penis and moved it back and forth, she said. "I felt really humiliated and I felt really confused", she said.

Ms Constand's words on the stand will be highly scrutinised, as they may be the only testimony that could land Mr Cosby behind bars.

More than 50 women have said that Cosby assaulted them, but the statute of limitations has run out in almost all cases.

Andrea Constand brushed aside pointed verbal jabs from fallen funnyman Bill Cosby's high-priced legal eagles during the third day of his sex assault trial Wednesday.

But there Constand was, on the stand, posture and presence near flawless.

She said she saw a jumble of prescription drug bottles in Cosby's bathroom. Cosby and Frazier were on screen together in the 1978 comedy "California Suite", which also starred Jane Fonda and Alan Alda.

Under questioning from Cosby's lawyers, Mr Miller revealed that his notes from her 1996 deposition show Ms Johnson told him the encounter happened in 1990.

Cosby avoided looking directly at Constand while she was in court, though he appeared to be listening intently, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Later, Ms Sewell says the comedian forced her daughter to take a pill.

"She continued to do her job", Constand's lawyer, Dolores Troiani, said outside court.

"I was mistaken", said Constand, 44, now a massage therapist in Toronto.

"The absence of Camille Cosby is noted, usually a person charged with a crime, their spouse comes to show support for them", said attorney Gloria Allred, who represents 33 Cosby accusers. The district attorney at the time reportedly declined to do so, citing a lack of evidence. Instead, she said he responded, "I thought you had an orgasm, didn't you?"

The Associated Press does not typically identify people who say they are sexual-assault victims unless they grant permission, which Constand has done.
