White House Women Face Bigger Gender Pay Gap Than The National Average

Men in the White House earn almost $104,000 on average, according to CNN, while women receive an average salary of about $83,000.

White House's annual report to Congress revealed that women working in the White House make 20,995 dollars less on an average, as compared to their male co-workers.

Of the 22 staffers paid the highest White House wage ($179,700.00), only five are women: senior advisor Kellyanne Conway, director of communications for the office of public liaison Omarosa Manigault, deputy national security advisor Kathleen McFarland, deputy national security advisor from strategy Dina Powell, and chief of staff to the First Lady Lindsay Reynolds.

When calculating the averages, Roll Call omitted the three employees who are taking no salary, including the president's daughter, her husband Jared Kushner, and a former Baltimore real estate developer. Twenty-two employees are paid that salary and six of those are women.

But there are 16 men who are making that top figure at the White House Office, with another who is on detail making even more.

Donald Trump has 'spent time at Golf clubs once every five days as president'

In July 2016, the American Enterprise Institute analyzed the White House's report from that year, and found the pay disparity has increased under Trump.

Every year on July 1, the White House is required to disclose the pay of its employees.

As with many topics, the White House has given mixed messages on its dedication to ensuring equal pay between the sexes.

Ivanka told CEOs who attended a summit at the White House in April, that encouraging young women to pursue jobs in professions including science, technology and engineering would help reduce the pay gap. A few months ago, he rolled back Obama-era equal pay protections for women with an executive order. We must work to close the gender pay gap!
