People Shot in Alabama, Manhunt Underway

Kenneth Dion Lever is suspected to have shot and killed three people inside a Gardendale home this morning, and police are now on the hunt to find him before more people are hurt.

AL.com reported that Lever is from Florida.

It added that he's believed to be driving a 2007 Lincoln Navigator with a Florida license plate with the number 689NFN.

The search for Lever initially focused in woods near the Peachtree Crossings mobile home community, where the shootings occurred, but Walker later said police believed he had left the area. He's considered to be armed and extremely unsafe.

Gardendale police, Birmingham, Homewood, Warrior, Kimberly police and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office have set up a perimeter.

Gardendale police released a photo of a potential suspect in a Facebook post and told residents to stay inside while they looked for a man described as an active shooter. A woman claimed he was abusing her 11-year-old daughter before filing the order.

Police in Lower Windsor Township confirmed they arrested Lever in 2015 on child sexual abuse charges.

Separately, court records in York County, Pennsylvania, show Lever is scheduled to go on trial there on sexual abuse charges on September 11.

In both cases, Lever was charged with involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, indecent assault person less than 13 years of age, corruption of minors, and distribution of explicit sexual material of a minor.

Lever has been free on bond awaiting a court date.

This is a developing story.
