North Korea threatens UN

China's imports from North Korea have seen a drastic drop in the past four months and it "has strictly abided" by United Nations Security Council resolutions, a customs official said.

"We will adopt a strong UNSC resolution to impose additional sanctions on North Korea, and do not want compromised resolutions", Haley emphasized, indicating that the USA will not tolerate a lower level of sanctions due to opposition from China and Russian Federation.

North Korea recently conducted a test launch of an ICBM referred to as a 'Hwasong-14, ' on July 4, but the worldwide community has yet to present a resolution on the matter due to tension between the U.S. and China.

"Something has to be done", this is the response of U.S. President Donald Trump as he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping days after the North Korean missile test took place.

On June 3, the council voted to broaden sanctions on North Korea in a unanimous decision from the council's 15-member nations.

China's exports to North Korea rose 29.1% in the first half of the year, with total trade with Pyongyang growing 10.5% to $2.55 billion.

Trump pledged repeatedly during his election campaign to get tough on Chinese trade practices deemed unfair to the USA, but his rhetoric softened after the friendlier-than-expected April summit with Mr. Xi.

US President Donald Trump claimed in a tweet this month that China-North Korea trade in the first quarter "grew nearly 40 percent".

China announced in February the suspension of coal imports from the North, striking a blow at a major source of income for the hermit state.

A South Korean lawmaker, Yi Wan-young, said Tuesday that he doesn't think North Korea has secured re-entry capabilities for its intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) program.

The officials say Trump is "frustrated" that his repeated demands for China to unilaterally solve North Korea, and that moving against Chinese businesses will be an expression of his frustration, expecting that it might convince China to do more. Imports from North Korea fell 13 percent. "Simple accumulated data can not be used as evidence to question China's severe attitude in carrying out UN Security Council resolutions", Huang told a news briefing. The Security Council approved a resolution in November that exempted transactions in iron and iron ore intended "exclusively for livelihood purposes". But even before the test - which Washington and Seoul labeled "destabilizing and unlawful" - Americans and many people in the Asia-Pacific region held negative views of North Korea and its nuclear weapons program. In view of past experience, it has taken successively more and more time to garner the support of China and Russian Federation in strengthening sanctions against the North.

The bipartisan bill was introduced Thursday by Republican Senator Cory Gardner, who chairs the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on East Asia.
