Guardiola says Aguero is staying at Man City

But City, who last week completed the transfer of another right-sided defender, Kyle Walker, are said to have stolen a march on their West London counterparts by agreeing a fee with his current side.

The Chile global is Guardiola's priority target but Arsenal and Arsene Wenger are adamant that the 28-year-old will not be sold.

Guardiola said: "It's like the case of Danilo, we have targets and we are going to see what happens".

"Alexis plays for Arsenal, so Arsène said that, he knows more than me, so unfortunately the market finishes August 31", Guardiola said.

"We are talking with three or four players to try and get them to come to join us - not only for next season but for the next three, four or five years".

Sanchez is reportedly keen to leave the Emirates although manager Arsene Wenger has indicated the player is not for sale.

Guardiola praised the impact of new goalkeeper Ederson and dismissed suggestions Claudio Bravo could depart this summer.

"Alexis is a player from Arsenal", he told a press conference.

Pressed on whether Aguero, who was reported to have attracted interest from Premier League champions Chelsea this week, remained central to his plans, Guardiola was unequivocal.

The Spaniard added: "Bony's injured". I think it's a huge mistake from Uefa.

City are set to smash through the £100m barrier in terms of full-back recruitment after releasing Pablo Zabaleta, Gael Clichy and Bacary Sagna when their contracts expired at the end of last season. It was an honour to work with him.

Guardiola switched his sights to Danilo after the player's compatriot, Daniel Alves, snubbed City in order to join Paris St-Germain last week.

"We have an option to have the opportunity in a few years to bring him back". He needs to play at that age and that's why him, the club and everybody, we decide what's best for him.

"But he is a young player and we believe he deserves to play".
