'Doom's' Multiplayer DLC Goes Free With Game's Latest Patch

Staying true to their promise of continued support for Doom multiplayer, Bethesda has now announced that Doom multiplayer DLC, previously released and upcoming ones will be free forever as part of a new update to overhaul the multiplayer mode of the game.

The appropriately numbered Update 6.66 will make all paid DLC that was included in the season pass free. That is three multiplayer DLC packs featuring nine maps, three additional guns and three playable demons.

Revised Progression System - The revised progression system will alter when and how players unlock additional guns, demons, equipment, and all of the player and weapon customization options. Players can also unlock these options via in-game challenges, which certainly makes it more fun.

The update will also introduce a brand new multiplayer progression system that will replace the previous random unlock scheme with a system that unlocks equipment when hitting specific levels.

There'll also be free play events on weekends for anyone interested that offers the first two stages, full multiplayer and some SnapMap sessions.

Returning players can either keep their current unlocked items or be reset to 0 to experience the new system.

All veteran player levels will be reset to zero.

But wait...there's more! Bethesda is also lowering the price of the game to fully entice players. If you dig the game you can purchase it at its new price of $15.00. The free weekend for Xbox One gamers is active now and runs through July 23 at 12 p.m.
