Europe, Much Of Russia To Experience Partial Lunar Eclipse On August 7

In fact, North America is due for a total solar eclipse just this month, on August 21.

In this eclipse season we have the total eclipse on Monday, Aug. 21, and a partial lunar eclipse on the evening of Aug. 7-8 visible from Europe, Asia and Africa. "Unfortunately, Richmond is in the outer shadow, call the penumbra, where we only get to see a partial eclipse".

"During a partial solar eclipse, you won't actually see those circles".

An eclipse of the sun is a solar eclipse, this is when the moon's shadow falls on the earth, a lunar eclipse is when the earth's shadow falls on the moon.

A lunar eclipse is either preceded by or followed by solar eclipse, which occurs two weeks on either side.

A partial lunar eclipse occurs when the earth moves between the sun and the moon, but they are not precisely aligned or they do not form a ideal straight line in space.

The moon casts a long shadow over the face of the earth, making daylight turn to twilight within the "path of totality" - or the path along which the sun is completely obscured.

-Where is the best location to see a total eclipse?

The penumbral part of the lunar eclipse, which is hard to discern, began at 9:20 pm, while the partial phase began at 10:52 pm. The main difference from one event to another is the degree to which the totally eclipsed Moon is darkened and how colourful it might be.

The eclipse was only partial and was not visible anywhere in North America, which was in daylight when it occurred. An interesting aspect of lunar eclipse is that everywhere on a earth from where the moon is visible during eclipse, the time will be the same.

When the partial lunar eclipse happens worldwide.

Penumbral eclipses are of little interest because they are hard to see.

Unlike solar eclipses, no special equipment is required to view a lunar eclipse, although a pair of binoculars or a telescope may enhance the view of the event.

Science Popularisation Association of Communicators and Educators or SPACE has also organised a telescopic observation for the general public at Marina Beach, Chennai. "If we cut out these 2 holes, then when the eclipse happens we can hold this out and we can make a projection of the sun through this pinhole".
