Look! "Despacito" Is The First YouTube Video To Reach 3 Billion Views

The music video for Luis Fonsi's "Despacito" featuring Daddy Yankee has broken the record for the most viewed video of all time on YouTube, with over 3 billion views thus far, and Morocco contributed big time.

According to YouTube, Latin artists account for more than a third of the top 100 most-viewed musicians of 2017 so far, with the likes of Nicky Jam, Maluma, J Balvin and Ozuna all having notched up more than 1bn views this year alone.

"See You Again", the most popular release from the Fate of the Furious soundtrack, dethroned "Gangnam Style" for the distinction of most-viewed in July.

The music video is now the most liked video on YouTube history, and is considered one of the most popular song of all time.

As of early Friday afternoon (4 August) on the US East Coast, 'Despacito' had logged 2.995 billion views on YouTube, ahead of rap ballad 'See You Again' by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth at 2.994 billion. "Thank you so much and I can't wait to see you guys!"

The Bieber version has logged 12 weeks at number one on the USA singles chart, the first Spanish-language song to reach the top spot since 'Macarena' in 1996 and matching the 12-week reign earlier this year of Ed Sheeran's 'Shape of You'.

Since its release in January, "Despacito" has streamed over 771 million times in the U.S. through July 20, and is now No. 1 on video and streaming charts. So when Universal Music approached me to Direct and Choreograph the India video, I was very excited. "My Dance Company and I had a great time working on this video and we can't wait for people to watch it!"
