Dallas Cowboys Superstar Ezekiel Elliot Suspended Six Games

Elliott's representatives - one of whom is St. Louis attorney Scott Rosenblum - issued a statement Friday saying they planned to appeal. "League investigators examined all available evidence, including photographic and digital evidence, thousands of text messages, and other records of electronic communications".

The suspension comes after an over yearlong investigation into domestic violence accusations by Elliott's ex-girlfriend in Columbus, Ohio, by the NFL. The appeal would be heard by either NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell or his designee. Elliott was not charged or arrested because of what authorities in Columbus said was conflicting and inconsistent information.

After going 13-3 past year and narrowly missing out on a trip to the NFC Championship, there's been plenty of excitement in Texas regarding the Cowboys' upcoming season.

The league sent Elliott a six-page letter that explained why his suspension was six games, and Elliott's lawyers have responded with a forceful response that claims the NFL "cherry-picked" evidence with "factual inaccuracies" while "ignoring other critical evidence". Harvey said an example was proof that photographs were taken by Thompson the same day she alleged that she was injured by Elliott.

The NFL's letter to Elliott cited the OH case as well as an incident this past spring when Elliott was caught on video pulling down a woman's shirt while watching a St. Patrick's Day parade in Dallas.

"You should understand, however, that your behavior during this event was inappropriate and disturbing, and reflected a lack of respect for women", Todd Jones wrote. But without Elliott, who rushed for over 1,600 yards and scored 16 touchdowns a year ago, Dallas will need to turn to backups Darren McFadden, Rod Smith, and Alfred Morris. In addition, Elliott will give up $240,000 per missed game in signing-bonus money if the suspension is upheld. If this timeline holds true, Elliott won't be eligible to return until October 29, when the Cowboys visit the Redskins.

Still, the Cowboys have one of, if not the, best offensive lines in the National Football League, so their rushing attack still should be productive with Darren McFadden until Elliott returns to the field.
