Kardashians Donate $500000 to Help Victims of Hurricane Harvey

On a 2009 episode of their E! reality series, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kim, Khloe and Kourtney were filmed helping a family who survived Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans.

The family seems to have been inspired by actor Kevin Hart, who called on celebrities to contribute to his relief fund. We went through Hurricane Andrew, which was a Category 5 hurricane.

"My heart goes out to my hometown, Houston, and I remain in constant prayer for those affected and for the rescuers who have been so fearless and determined to do so much to help", she said.

The Kardashian family is just one of many famous celebrities that have made sizable contributions thus far. We have been watching the heartbreaking footage of the catastrophic flooding in Houston.

Kardashian West announced the donation on Twitter on Tuesday, saying, "Houston we are praying for you".

Drake, who is touring in London but has lived in Houston for eight years, said he and DJ Future the Prince were working with aid groups.

The Kardashians and Jenners have come out to show their support to those affected by Hurricane Harvey. T.I. wrote on Instagram.

"Kim Kardashian West also posted about the pledge, while matriarch Kris Jenner noted, "@KevinHart4real My daughters and I accept your challenge. Beyoncé announced in a statement that she's working with BeyGOOD, her philanthropic initiative, to help as many people as possible affected by the storm; Lady Gaga tweeted that she was "making relief donations"; Katy Perry, during her hosting gig at the Video Music Awards, urged viewers to donate to the Red Cross. In less than a day it's received more than 1 million likes.

"Others have joined on the hashtag "#HoustonStrong" to spread the word and connect folks looking to help.
