Kim Jong Un: August 29 missile test 'prelude to containing Guam'

North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un has a third child, South Korea's National Intelligence Service (NIS) has learned. The gender and name of the child are unknown, Yonhap News Agency reports.

Kim Jong-Un and his wife have been married for eight years and have two other children, born in 2010 and 2013, according to a report from Chosun Ilbo.

The Kim family has ruled North Korea since the country's founding in 1948, but very little is known about its members.

Although Ri reportedly gave birth six months ago, the news of the child only emerged on Tuesday (29 August), a day after South Korea's spy agency submitted a report to its parliament about the addition in the North Korean leader's family. American basketball player Dennis Rodman, who visited Pyongyang in 2013, said the second child was a girl and was called Zhu-E.

Saying that he had held Kim's daughter in his arms, Rodman described the North Korean leader as "a good dad" who has "a good family".

Given the propensity of the Korean Worker's Party to choose successive male leaders from the Kim family, there was great question and concern about whether or not the couple, married since 2009, would make the continuation of that tradition possible, both in the DPRK and overseas.

Rumors about her pregnancy persisted previous year as she was removed from the public eye for some nine months.

News of the new arrival emerged as North Korea fired a ballistic missile over northern Japan.

She is believed to be around 30 years old. Though Kim Jong Un was the youngest, he soon appeared to be being groomed for succession.
