Iran says it will not be the first to violate nuclear deal

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said today the Iranian people are waiting for an apology from US President Donald Trump for his "extremely offensive" rhetoric and "unfounded" allegations about his country.

In an interview with CNN, he called for a new agreement to monitor Iran's missile development.

"I'll let you know what the decision is", Trump said with a smile. In a dismissive jab at Trump he said, "It will be a great pity if this agreement were to be destroyed by rogue newcomers to the world of politics".

Future of the deal?

North Korea: UN sanctions aimed at "suffocating" our people Trump, Nikki Haley can punish Iran without ending nuclear deal MORE has said in recent days that she's brightened by what she views as less "Israel bashing" at the United Nations.

"It's not a clear signal that he plans to withdraw".

Now, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said yesterday that the expectations of the agreement have not been met, and later in the day he met with his Iranian counterpart.

"We believe that solving the current problems in Syria and Iraq depends on pursuing political solutions and negotiating by all sides, as is now the case with the cooperation of Iran, Russia and Turkey in Astana and of the United Nations in Geneva " said UN Secretary General, referring to referendum in Iraqi Kurdistan, while expressing strong support of the constitution and territorial integrity of Iraq.

Trump said on Wednesday he has reached a decision on whether to recertify IranĀ“s compliance with the deal to curb its nuclear programme but did not reveal his intentions.

Speaking at the UN General Assembly, Mr Netanyahu said the "sunset clause" in the 2015 deal would pave the way for an Iranian bomb, not halt progress as the proponents of the deal claim.

The president has until October 15 to certify that Iran is complying with the deal. If the administration does that, it punts responsibility to Congress, who would have 60 days to determine whether or not to vote sanctions back into place. If US lawmakers reimpose economic sanctions the agreement would likely collapse.

The rhetorical threats have anxious the other countries in the agreement: Britain, China, France, Germany and Russian Federation.

MOGHERINI: With the hard times we are living in the world of today with quite a good number of conflicts, crisis and a nuclear threat coming from a different part of the world, the worldwide community can not afford dismantling an agreement that is working and delivering.

Germany's leaders also made clear their opposition to any scrapping of the deal.

The International Atomic Energy Association, using site visits, satellite imagery and other ways of monitoring, has verified that Iran is meeting its terms of the deal, something United States officials have reaffirmed. Kicking the debate to Congress, some have argued, would also give the administration leverage with Iran -- a shot across the bow that sanctions could be imminent if they do not renegotiate the terms.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday rejected Donald Trump's threatening approach.

The chorus of worldwide support was countered by a succession of senior Trump aides who repeated the president's objections to the pact in television interviews on Thursday.

Macron told reporters that instead of abandoning the deal, as Trump seemed to threaten to in his fiery speech, new "pillars" should be added to the agreement.

"We believe that it must be strictly reinforced". No agreement is flawless, he said, but if the accord is discarded, the entire non-proliferation system would suffer, the Xinhua news agency reported. "We expect the global community to do whatever it takes to make sure Iran is in compliance with it".

On Wednesday, a senior USA official said Trump was leaning toward not certifying that Iran is complying with the pact, and letting Congress effectively decide whether to kill the agreement.
