Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu Applauds US President Donald Trump's Speech at UNGA

US President Donald Trump delivered scathing rebuke of Iran during his debut address at the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, much to the satisfaction of Israeli Prime Minister who later praised the address as "bold and courageous".

On the fate of the Iranian nuclear deal, Trump said, "You'll see very soon".

Netanyahu devoted a significant portion of his 20-minute speech to singling out Trump's words, delivered earlier in the day, and labeling the US president's maiden speech as the boldest and most courageous speech he had ever heard in 30 years at the United Nations, an address marked by Trump's condemnation for leaders of Iran, North Korea and Syria.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani vowed that his country would not be the first to violate the agreement under which Tehran agreed to restrict its nuclear program in return for the loosening of economic sanctions that had crippled its economy.

President Trump faces a series of pivotal challenges at the United Nations General Assembly in NY this week, but among the most fraught foreign policy questions for the new president is what he will do with the Iran nuclear accord.

He is slated to meet with the Palestinians in the coming days.

Speaking to Iran's state broadcaster after the meeting, Zarif said all "members, except one country, stressed the importance of fully observing the (deal), its being non-negotiable and that all sides should remain committed to this global achievement".

"What it is, is a clear signal that he's not happy with the deal", Haley, told CBS News in an interview.

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Wednesday had the highest-level encounter between the U.S. and Iran of Trump's presidency, meeting and shaking hands with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif. "According to me we have to keep the 2015 agreement because it was a good one", Macron told reporters at the United Nations.

"Whether we can agree, that's another thing", Tillerson said.

And he made the point that the deal is not just the purview of the USA, but was arrived at by a number of countries.

Rouhani, addressing the General Assembly, said it would be a pity if the deal were "destroyed by rogue newcomers to the world of politics".

The prospect of Washington reneging on the agreement has anxious some USA partners that helped negotiate it, especially as the world grapples with another nuclear crisis, North Korea's nuclear and ballistic missile development.

"We can not abide by an agreement if it provides cover for the eventual construction of a nuclear program", Reuters quoted him as saying.

Trump said not only has the North Korean government starved its citizens and killed opponents, it was now threatening the world with "unthinkable loss of life". It was a very, very matter of fact exchange of how we see this agreement very, very differently. "We definitely do not need to go into another one", she said. The tone was very matter-of-fact.

"The nuclear-related commitments undertaken by Iran under the JCPOA are being implemented", IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano said as the IAEA's 61st General Conference kicked off in Vienna on Monday, adding that Iran is "subject to the world's most robust nuclear verification regime". The deal also ensures that United Nations inspectors have regular access to known nuclear sites in Iran.

So far, this is exactly what the White House has done, continuing to uphold America's obligations by waiving sanctions on Iran while adding non-nuclear sanctions to target Iran's cyber espionage and sabotage programs, ballistic missile capabilities, human rights abuses, and support for terrorist organizations like Hezbollah.

Until the matter was resolved the USA would fulfil its commitments, he said.
