Blitzboks out of Cape Town Sevens

RUGBYU-SEVENS-WORLD-SAM-KEN Kenya's Arthur Owira (C) is tackled by Samoa's David Afamasaga (R) and Silao Nonu (L) during the second day of the World Rugby Sevens Series Cape Town at Cape Town Stadium in Cape Town on December 10, 2017.

A powerful effort from Ravouvou and a try to Vilimoni Koroi gave their side a 14-7 halftime buffer, before they stormed away in the second half.

The Blitzboks narrowly beat surprise packages Canada 19-12 in the bronze medal match, after they were stunned by old foes New Zealand 19-12 in the semi-finals of the Cup competition.

New Zealand haven't won a men's title since March 2016, when they defeated South Africa in the final of the Vancouver Sevens.

New Zealand needed to beat Australia in the final match of the section to avoid missing the knockout phase for the first time and survived a scare before emerging 35-12 victors.

Reflecting on the team's performance, England Sevens head coach Amor praised his side's effort and attitude.

McConnochie went over for a second try to give England a 12-5 lead but New Zealand came roaring back with a try soon after.
