Child's Play: See Chucky kick ass in new Ready Player One trailer

With Stephen Spielberg's Ready Player One set to take on '80s pop culture, Chucky's getting in on the fun by appearing in the newest trailer. In the year 2045 cities have become overpopulated, polluted and corrupted.

Cline confirmed that he's working on a Ready Player One novel sequel during a live stream interview to promote the new trailer premiere for Spielberg's film version (which Cline co-wrote with Zak Penn). When the creator of OASIS, James Halliday (played by Mark Rylance in Spielberg's film adaptation) dies, he thus leaves his huge wealth hidden somewhere within the OASIS, free to the first person who is able to find it.

Created by James Halliday, the OASIS allows for the creation of literally any world someone could want, including Middle-earth, Mid-World, planets from Star Wars, Star Trek, and Doctor Who, and even classic Dungeons & Dragons modules.

With a plot akin to a cross between Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Matrix, this adaptation of Ernest Cline's novel - which is jammed with so many cultural references it'll make your head spin - it's a fantasy like no other.

No one could accuse Spielberg of repeating himself (he famously dislikes his own sequels and prefers fresh projects as much as possible), and the vibrant, anime-inspired and immersive 3D aesthetic here is unlike anything we've ever seen from him.

And today, we've gotten the first official trailer for the movie.

We aren't sure if the heroes will have their special abilities but if they do you'll be in for a treat. The Oasis begins March 30, in theaters everywhere.

Cline had mentioned in 2015 that he had written several potential outlines for a Ready Player One sequel.
