Sri Lanka's Mathews fit for Sunday's series decider

Shikhar Dhawan blasted India to their eighth straight ODI series win with an 85-ball century in the third and final ODI of the three-match series against Sri Lanka at Visakhapatnam on Sunday. In return, India chased the score successfully in 32.1 overs.

Sri lanka started to bat by losing the toss. He, however, bowled two maidens in his 5 overs and went for 20 runs but his captain would be expecting some wickets from his most successful bowler of the series. He scored 17 runs off 28 balls with the help of 2 boundaries. The two have brought up 100-run partnership as India's search for wickets continues.

After Rohit won the toss and opted to field fearing the evening dew would make it hard for his spinners to grip the ball, Sri Lanka lost opener Danushka Gunathilaka for 13.

Earlier, Dhoni was seen racing with teammate Hardik Pandya in a 100-meter sprint and the aging Dhoni only seems to be fitter as the youngsters if not more than them as he made Pandya run for his money.

Sri Lanka, shockingly, lost their last seven wickets for mere 55 runs which eventually led them to 1-2 series defeat.

Tharanga hit 12 fours and three sixes in his 83-ball 95 and gave Sri Lanka a strong platform and shared a second-wicket stand of 121 with Sadeera Samarawickrama. Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer made a mockery of the bowling attack, putting up 135 runs for the second wicket and in the process, Iyer completed his second fifty in two games.

In the last match, it was captain Rohit Sharma's masterclass of 208 which helped the hosts put up a total of 392-4, and in turn restrict Sri Lanka to 251-8 from 50 overs. He with Dhawan made their opening partnership but Sharma was gone by scoring just 7 runs.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav picked three wickets each for India. In the meantime, Iyer scored 65 runs in 63 balls.

Speaking about the win in the post-match ceremony Kuldeep said: " Obviously their batsmen were set and we knew we needed wickets in the middle overs.

The rest of the task was finished by Dinesh Karthik who remained unbeaten at unbeaten 26 (31), giving full support to Dhawan from the other end.

Moreover, not only will it be a historic bilateral series win for them but also a massive confidence booster going forward, considering the quality of opposition.
