Twins release statement on Miguel Sano sexual assault allegations

Major League Baseball said it is investigating allegations by a woman who worked as a photographer at Minnesota Twins events that she was sexually assaulted by third baseman Miguel Sano in 2015.

Bissen said Sano tried to force her into a bathroom following an autograph signing in 2015 at a store she volunteered at.

Bissen states she felt compelled to share her story after her employer, Twins Daily was "stripped of most of their access" making her realize, "I have nothing to lose by telling my story".

"I pulled back as he held onto my wrist", she wrote, in a note published to Twitter on Thursday. "I didn't want to cause a scene, so I just went along", Bissen said in her post. When Bissen pointed at the door, she wrote, "the athlete took that as a signal that I wanted him to grab me and try to take me back through that door".

". Every time I have to hear how great people think Miguel Sano is, I'm reminded of how very bad he actually is and how he hurt me". I was in a squatted position with my wrist throbbing, I screamed, no one came to help me.

"I unequivocally deny the allegation made against me today - it never happened", he wrote. Until more information is gathered, the Twins will have no further comment. Her ending said: "Every time I have to hear about how great people think Miguel Sano is, I'm reminded of how bad he actually is and how he hurt me".

"We are aware of the allegations and are now in the process of looking into it", Major League Baseball spokesman Mike Teevan said in a statement, per ESPN.com.

Bissen's statement initially described an incident in which a married first base coach asked for her number. "There is no place for it in our society".

In an additional tweet, Bissen makes clear that there is no connection between this incident and the Twins reported interest in trading Sano this offseason. "No, he didn't rape me, but he sure did assault me", Bissen wrote.

Fans of Sano took to Twitter to shoot down Bissen's allegation. In her tweet, she said that they spent the next 30 minutes inside the store before it was time to go. "She included the "#MeToo" hashtag with her tweet, something that has become more common as women come forward to publicize their experiences and the widespread nature of sexual assaults. 'I understand why you didn't, but I wish you would have come to me'.

Sano, 24, set career highs last season with 28 homers and 77 RBIs while making his first All-Star team.
