Barkley undergoes physical in Chelsea

The Premier League champions lost out on the Everton midfielder on transfer deadline day last August despite agreeing a £35million fee with his club.

Ross Barkley is due to undergo a medical with Chelsea today ahead of a £15m move from Everton after Tottenham ended their pursuit of the midfielder.

Everton manager Sam Allardyce has revealed that his club are expecting to receive a bid for Ross Barkley this month and concedes that they are destined to lose the England worldwide.

"I expect there would be some interest some time in this window if there's going to be any interest from one of the big boys".

But Chelsea were happy to pay to secure his services in January, with Antonio Conte enthused by Barkley's potential.

A £15m deal for Barkley would see Chelsea hit the £200m mark on transfer expenditure, only the second club after Manchester City this year to have done so.

According to the Telegraph, Barkley has been impressed by Chelsea's persistence to procure his signature and now has no hesitations to move to Stamford Bridge. But that's not the case anymore, with Spurs apparently wanting to wait until the end of the season to sign him for free, while Chelsea ready to spend money now.

Conte is seeking cover for Alvaro Morata and has never been convinced by current understudy Michy Batshuayi, and talks between the Premier League champions and Carroll's entourage are said to have already begun.
