How an immigrant to Canada helped Donald Trump prove his mental health

A weekly recap of the top political stories from The Globe, sent right to your email.

Dr Jackson's highly-anticipated report came after the United States leader carried out a physical examination last Friday.

He'd prefer to lose those pounds by diet, not exercise.

"The president's overall health is excellent", he said, repeating "excellent" eight times: "Hands down, there's no question that he is in the excellent range".

Soon after, CNN's Jim Acosta, who has brushed with the White House on several occasions, asked Jackson if he was giving all the results but the physician said "absolutely nothing" was being withheld from Trump's results.

So it came as no surprise to any of us that he, apparently, scored 100% in a test that measures cognitive decline in older adults.

"What it can tell you is that at least in a brief screening test there was no significant cognitive impairment", said Gordon, who was not involved in examining Mr. Trump. Additionally, the President had an echocardiogram of his heart, as well as a stress test, both described as normal.

He added that Trump "doesn't sleep much", estimating that the president sleeps four to five hours a night. Jackson said he didn't think Trump needed a cognitive assessment after interacting with him daily over the past year.

"I think immigrants can be proud that they are contributing", he told the Canadian Press.

Trump said prior to the exam that he'd be "surprised" if it didn't go well.

Rear Admiral Ronny Jackson was so effusive in extolling the totally fantastic, surpassingly marvelous, superbly stupendous and extremely awesome health of the president that the doctor sounded nearly Trumpian. Some people have just great genes.

"He said, 'I want you to get out there and I want you to talk to them and I want you to answer every single question they have, '" Dr Jackson said of Mr Trump. "It's just the way he's wired".

More than a few people pointed to a photo of Trump standing side-by-side with Obama, who is 6-foot-1, and the men appear to be the same height.

"He has a lot of energy, a lot of energy and a lot of stamina", Jackson said.

President Donald Trump's morning routine has been revealed - and it's heavy on "Fox & Friends", tweeting, and seeking validation from aides and friends. "I don't know", Jackson said Tuesday.

"All clinical data indicates that the president is now very healthy, and that he will remain so for the duration of his presidency. the president's overall health is excellent", Navy Rear Admiral Dr Ronny Jackson told reporters.

He doesn't seem overly stressed out.
