Deepika Padukone's Padmaavat earns Rs

"Padmaavat" registered Rs 5 crore net on Wednesday (paid previews), Rs 19 crore net on opening day on Thursday and Rs 32 crore net on Friday, according to producers Bhansali Productions and Viacom18 Motion Pictures. Likewise, the film saw a constrained release in Haryana, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh because of the massive challenges from the Rajput people group.

Padmaavat originally scheduled for a release on 1st December 2017, found itself in an impending controversy that extended for over a month and as a result the film's release was postponed temporarily. Trade sources have told us that film has earned anything between Rs 18 - 20 crore on its first day. As per Ormax Cinematix, which forecasts first-day box office figures for unreleased films, Padmaavat would have opened at about Rs. 27.5 crore under normal circumstances, had there been no disruption of the shows. The film is doing decently based on where it has been releasing, and is reportedly Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh's biggest opening.

Deepika, who plays the lead role of Rani Padmavati, tweeted: "It's never happened before". It tells the tale of the handsome Rani Padmini of Chittor (played by Deepika Padukone) and how she committed jauhar, to avoid falling into the hands of Turkish invader Alauddin Khilji (Ranveer Singh).
