Clippers agree to trade Blake Griffin to Pistons, according to reports

The Blake Griffin trade was reportedly the beginning of a larger plan for the Los Angeles Clippers.

Reports surfaced early Monday morning that the Pistons were open to trading Bradley.

Also joining the Pistons from L.A. are center Willie Reed and forward Brice Johnson.

The next season, officially his rookie year, Griffin was selected as an All-Star, won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, and was named the NBA Rookie of the Year.

Harris is averaging a career-high 18.1 points per game this season and making almost 41 percent of his three-point attempts, making him a highly-desirable asset should the Clippers chose to move him to a contender in the next couple weeks.

Detroit is scuffling as well.

Detroit takes on the Cleveland Cavaliers Tuesday night, but the five-time All-Star is not expected to make his Pistons debut in the game.

Blake Griffin has been a cornerstone of the Clippers franchise, but the power forward is headed to Detroit in a move that will save the Clippers future cap space.

He was a free agent in the offseason, and met with team owner Steve Ballmer, president and coach Doc Rivers, special consultant Jerry West and several players at Staples Center in a celebration of his career.

The deal didn't include a no-trade clause.

Griffin's statement was released on social media and paid tribute to the city that he has called home and the Clippers fans. Bradley was acquired this off-season from Boston in exchange for Marcus Morris.

Boban Marjanovic posted averages of 6.2 points and 3.0 rebounds for the Pistons this season.

"The move is not without risk". Tobias Harris, who was the team's leading scorer, is under contract for one more year at $14.8 million.

After signing the deal, Blake said, "I want my legacy to be a Clipper".

Harris was leading the Pistons with 18.1 points per game and making $16 million. They were defeated last season by the Utah Jazz in the first round of the playoffs. "His presence will help us offensively and his size gives us another rebounder and weapon in the paint". According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, the Clippers have their eyes set on the 4 time MVP and "strongly believe" that they will also on be on his shortlist.

When Chris Paul left the Clippers, it really marked the beginning of the end for Lobb City.
