David Moyes wants Marko Arnautovic to maintain high levels

Moyes has overseen something of an improvement in results but, although West Ham sit 12th in the Premier League table heading into this weekend's fixtures, they are still only three points outside the relegation zone.

Arnautovic was presented with a glorious chance when James Collins headed the ball across goal, only to shoot too close to Karnezis.

"I know how we got those points - running a lot, and working a lot - and I think this is the key to the future".

It was from his cross that Javier Hernandez nodded the home team in front seven minutes before half time, having earlier had one ruled out on a tight offside decision.

Goals from Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic capped off a fine 2-0 victory for the Hammers over Watford, as David Moyes' side produced a performance that will have fans be a little more at ease in the upcoming fortnight.

"He's getting told he has got to keep at it and he's getting pushed all the way".

"He only trained for three days but you can see the impact he's had, and playing as a centre-forward has freed him up a bit".

"When he came in with it yesterday I said "that looks great Marko, it really suits you", so he went away happy", added Moyes.

The Scotsman was handed a boost with the return of talismanic striker, Arnautovic, while Michail Antonio was handed a start after appearing as a second-half substitute during the defeat at the Amex Stadium.

Watford manager Javi Gracia felt Hernandez may have shoved defender Marvin Zeegelaar before he headed the opener. "I hope he stays with us for many, many years and achieves things and wins things".

"I want to speak directly to the supporters and say how important it is that we all pull together during these times", he said. "And we're trying to find a set-up that, long-term, will deliver better".
