Russia says Syrian ceasefire monitoring centre hit in shelling

Injured children are treated at a hospital in rebel-held Douma, Eastern Ghouta, Syria, on February 19.

Pro-government forces pounded rebel-held Eastern Ghouta for the fourth day in a row Wednesday, killing at least 38 civilians, including four children, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a United Kingdom -based monitoring group said. "A wounded child breathing with lungs of sand".

Eastern Ghouta, a suburb of Damascus, is controlled by government opposition forces and has been under siege since 2013. The truces do not cover a former Al-Qaida affiliate, which has a small presence in the besieged enclave.

"Where is Russian Federation and where is Iran, which announced in Astana that they would also ensure cease-fire in Eastern Ghouta?" he asked.

Dujarric also noted that five hospitals had been hit by airstrikes in the area, leaving over 700 individuals requiring immediate medical evacuation from eastern Ghouta.

"Yesterday we had more than a hundred martyrs".

"These are the worst days of our lives in Ghouta", Eastern Ghouta hospital director and pediatrician Amani Ballour said.

Local medics in the area are unable to aid the high number of those wounded, especially due to damage caused by shelling to the medical facilities in eastern Ghouta, the document continued. "Actually, we are humans".

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says the death toll includes 52 children.

A doctor working in Eastern Ghouta says the situation is "catastrophic", claiming that the worldwide community has abandoned the people living there.

Mrs May said she was "appalled by the escalation of air strikes in Eastern Ghouta and deeply concerned by reports of the ongoing deliberate targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure, in blatant violation of global humanitarian and human rights law".

"It's beyond imagination what is happening in East Ghouta today", he said. If captured by government forces it would be another major victory for Assad since the conflict began seven years ago.

"I believe eastern Ghouta can not wait", Guterres said of the northern rebel-held enclave that has been under siege by pro-government forces since 2013. Those strikes reportedly kept going Tuesday.

Last year, the enclave was designated as one of four "de-escalation zones" in a deal with President Bashar al-Assad's supporters Russian Federation and Iran, along with Turkey.

"UNICEF is issuing this blank statement".

Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said the convoy of up to 50 vehicles had retreated east of Aleppo, adding: "It appears that their aim was a little bit of a show and a little bit of propaganda".
