Motorcade for Rev. Billy Graham to travel 130 miles

The four- hour procession was in honor of the late evangelist, whose body will lie under the U.S capitol, Rotunda this week.

Monday is the first day the public will be able to come to the Billy Graham Library where the casket will lie in repose.

People lined the streets in North Carolina to pay their final respects to the Reverend Billy Graham.

Ruby Sparks, 85, attended a Graham youth ministry meeting in 1951, when she was a college student in Greensboro, North Carolina, and met him in 1970.

Graham will be buried in the prayer garden at the Billy Graham Library, according to family members.

Graham will join Rosa Parks and two Capitol police officers as the only civilians who have been permitted to be publicly viewed within the Capitol building.

The motorcade rolled through Black Mountain, where he shopped and caught trains, to Montreat, where he lived.

The evangelist and spiritual adviser to numerous presidents died last week at his North Carolina home.

A viewing will be held at the library in Charlotte on Monday and Tuesday.

The motorcade left the mountain chapel at the training centre operated by Graham's evangelistic association in Asheville on a long drive along Interstate 40 to his library in Charlotte, the state's largest city.

An office staff member said the former President and former first lady have a "longstanding scheduling commitment" on Friday, March 2 that they can not break. It will be a tribute to the 1949 Los Angeles tent revivals that made Graham famous, said family spokesman Mark DeMoss. The invitation-only service is scheduled to include at least 2,300 people.
