Apple said to be developing screens

According to a Bloomberg report, Apple is planning to launch three iPhones in 2018. We hope that Apple might go on to find out a new way so as to include the Pencil support in the lower-end iPads, so as to support art as well as other graphic works on the iPads in schools. When it launched back in 2017, the iPhone X bill of materials cost was more than $400, but the bill of the iPhone 5.85-inch model will be even lesser.

As previously reported, weak sales of the current iPhone X resulted in Apple utilising far less Samsung OLED display panels than forecast.

Senior analyst at Digitimes Research Luke Lin has been keeping an eye on Apples supply chain and believes he has the floor plan of the next generation iPhones.

Nothing has been officially confirmed by Apple, but the launch of one or more of these three new products would make sense.

In terms of screen size, rumors say that the iPad Pro 3 will likely have a much larger screen display of 11 inches in line with Apple's current design trend, which employs larger touchscreens and narrower bezels.

If Apple wants to offer customers a tangible reason to upgrade to new iPhones - something that's proving increasingly hard these days, considering the surprisingly poor performance of the iPhone X in the market - then something like a faster refresh rate could do the trick. However, the project was suspended in mid-February and seems to have been completely scrapped.

Apple Inc is designing and producing its own device displays for the first time, using a secret manufacturing facility near its California headquarters to make small numbers of the screens for testing purposes, people familiar with the situation said. The iPhone-maker now sources OLED panels from Samsung Display for the iPhone X.

Its move into displays has the long-term potential to hurt a range of suppliers, from screen makers like Samsung Electronics Company, Japan Display Inc, Sharp Corporation and LG Display Company to companies like Synaptics Inc that produce chip-screen interfaces. The sooner Apple can deliver that improvement, the better it'll be for the competitive positioning of Apple's iPhone X series of smartphones.

DigiTimes learned from Taiwanese sources Thursday that Apple is looking to start trial production of its new iOS-running phones in the second quarter of 2018. Then again, it won't be a true successor of the iPhone X.
