Jets owner says they've pulled their offer to Ndamukong Suh

"It just didn't seem to be in keeping with our longer-term plan". That contributed to the Jets' decision to back away from Suh. The owner said he discussed the offer with the former Lions and Dolphins player with general manager Mike Maccagnan "and I think our thinking changed a bit". A one-two punch of Suh, a three-time All-Pro, and Aaron Donald, the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year, surely would wreak havoc on opposing offensive lines.

Jets owner Christopher Johnson said Sunday after he and general manager Mike Maccagnan talked they chose to rescind the offer made to Suh, according to the New York Daily News. He said he spoke to Mike Maccagnan and pulled the offer once the two got on the same page. The Rams are reportedly the front-runners to land Suh, though the Titans and Saints are still very much in the mix. The owner added he wasn't involved when the offer was made to Suh, per SNY. Bowles, who has spoken glowingly of Suh in the past, reached out to him with a recruiting pitch, explaining that they could use him in their defense. Johnson himself described Suh as "one of the best football players out there", but he evidently didn't want him on his team.

Johnson also said, via Rich Cimini of ESPN, that they made a "pretty big offer" to Suh.

"Saying I stepped in is somewhat overstating the case", Johnson said.

McVay said Suh's meeting with the Rams went "really well", though he didn't reveal any further details about what took place. "It doesn't hurt at all that we have an bad lot of money that we might have been sending out the door to one player now back with us".
