Warner quits as Hyderabad IPL captain after tampering scandal

David Warner has stepped down as the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad ahead of IPL 2018 in the wake of the infamous ball tampering scandal.

About his own preparation, Saha, who recently scored a 20-ball 102 in a club level match here, said that he had not tried any new shots.

Saha said if could be a problem initially since the team is built around the skipper but SRH have players to cope with it. "The team was decided based on the captain".

"It's not good if they bring bad name to the sport. Everyone should be treated the same way and not on case to case basis", Saha said.

Australia captain Steve Smith had already been replaced as skipper of rival side Rajasthan Royals in the cash-rich Twenty20 competition due to start next month as the controversy rages on.

The Australia vice-captain has been sent home from the ongoing South Africa tour along with captain Steve Smith and Warner's fellow opener Cameron Bancroft, after the trio's plan to scuff up the ball was exposed during the third Test against South Africa in Cape Town.

Smith and Warner, along with Cameron Bancroft, were ordered to return home midway into the series in South Africa on Tuesday.

"From whatever I have seen, they have tampered with the ball blatantly which is not in the right spirit of the game", Saha said on the incident. "It's about playing clean cricket and not trying to tamper with the ball and then get a batsman out". Now it is for the authorities to decide.

"The spirit of cricket is extremely important and it is the duty of every player to uphold the spirit of the game". Kane Williamson, Deepak Hooda, etc. are there. "The plus point is that when batsmen have failed, bowlers have done well to win matches". "The ball wobbles. Even if the batsman has edged the ball, it wobbles which is very challenging".
