Monaco and Russian Federation plan to reinstate F1 grid girls

After Monaco's announcement that the Principality will be retaining its grid girls this year, Russian Grand Prix organisers have followed suit on the same subject. "After all, our girls are the most handsome".

Formula One stopped using female models for promotional purposes at races in January after complaints that it was outdated and sexist.

While grid girls will be there, they will not be holding boards with the driver numbers on them.

Russian deputy prime minister Dmitry Kozak, who heads the Russian GP organising committee, also said he thought it was "wrong" to bring children onto the track because they would be "scared". There should be adults.

"In all forms of motor sport there are girls advertising cars harmoniously and pleasantly".

F1's new owners, Liberty Media, announced earlier this year that they were ditching grid girls as it was not in keeping with their plans for the sport.

The defending four-time world champion had posted a grab from another Instagram user, which had a picture of some grid girls and added "Thank you Jesus".

"Our American friends assume that it could hurt the feminine feelings when employing young women to carry signs", Mr. Boeri, a local newspaper. Our hostesses complete model and PR schools.

Boeri, a lawyer, added, "They look pretty and are part of the Formula 1 landscape. And they are paid for it". The Grid Girls are here to stay in Monaco. Even with all of that, it's especially discouraging to see high level racing officials not only asking to ignore the decision but reducing women as something pretty to perform for them and the cameras. Women also stood with the victor on the podium after the race. Many are unlikely to be taken up.
