Trump in rape claims over migrant caravan

Trump's statement, made in an early morning post on Twitter, comes a day after he said he would utilise the U.S. military to protect the nation's southern border with Mexico.

This particular Via Cruz, organized by Pueblo Sin Fronteras (The People Without Borders), is now in its eighth year of the annual caravan and is made up of mostly Central Americans.

"We are looking for some reaction, some change in the policies", Mujica said.

The resolution was passed in a unanimous fashion and sent to the White House, Members of the U.S. Congress, and Mexico's Foreign Relations Officer, El Universal reported.

NBC News put a different spin on the demise of the planned border invasion.

Trump also referred to an unrelated terrorist attack in Manhattan in November a year ago carried out by Sayfullo Saipov, an immigrant from Uzbekistan, who investigators say appears to have been radicalized online in the US, not in his home country.

Rangel and the criminal groups reached their truce despite the Mexican government rejecting the idea.

Organizers had originally made bold claims that they would take the 1,500-strong group of invaders to the U.S.to either demand asylum or outright evade US law enforcement.

Trump's latest attacks on Mexico were triggered by news reports on a caravan of Central American migrants crossing the country toward the United States.

The activists organizing the migrant caravan have announced they will no longer try to reach the border en masse, and individual migrants and families have each begun going their own way. Some give them 20 days to transit the country on their way to the USA border with the stated goal of applying for asylum.

A National Guard unit patrols at the Arizona-Mexico border in Sasabe, Ariz., in 2007. That's also when contenders for the July 1 presidential election chimed in, inserting Trump into an election that has largely been about local issues.

He added: "They're sending people that have a lot of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us". But, Trump's claim that the caravan is breaking up as a result of any sort of actions by the Mexican government suggests that he doesn't understand what the caravan actually is - and what they hope to accomplish.

Organizer Irineo Mujica said the group plans to head to Puebla, about 200 miles north, where migrants will meet with volunteer lawyers from the US who are expected to help them figure out whether they might qualify for asylum or other types of immigration relief in the United States.

He claimed women from Central America are raped at "levels that nobody has ever seen before".

"I couldn't wait for them to kill me, " Colindres Ortega said.

"If you have a baby on our land, congratulations, that baby is a United States citizen", Trump lamented.
