Michael Cohen on FBI Raid: 'Upsetting to Say the Least'

On Monday, federal agents raided the home and business of Trump's "personal attorney" Michael Cohen, who in fact is much more than a lawyer.

Cohen has held numerous New York City medallions in his portfolio, according to records, though the value has been diminished since the onset of Uber and Lyft.

These "thoughts", vomited out this morning by our commander-in-chief, reference a story that had Trump outraged in a way that even an all-caps triple-exclamation tweet can't quite capture. Trump has said he had no knowledge of the payment. AMI has said she was paid to become a fitness columnist.

Former porn star Stormy Daniels' - whose name is Stephanie Clifford - also has stated she signed a nondisclosure agreement regarding her one-time alleged sexual encounter with Donald-trump at 2006. The exact reason for the raid was unclear, but reports Monday indicated that the matter was referred to the FBI by Robert Mueller, the special counsel leading the Russian Federation investigation.

The FBI raided Cohen's home, office, and hotel room Monday to seize a collection of documents related to the payment. Trump has obviously wanted to fire Robert Mueller from the beginning, but his aides and lawyers have convinced him that it would precipitate a constitutional crisis. She did not say where the advice came from.

"Many people have said you should fire him".

Trump's explosive response to news of the raid may help to explain why it was carried out by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of NY, rather than by Mueller's team.

Communications between clients and their lawyers are often beyond the reach of law enforcement based on attorney-client privilege, derived from the US Constitution.

The comments contrast with President Donald Trump who complained Monday that agents "broke into the office of one of my personal attorneys".

Cohen has admitted making a $130,000 payment to Daniels days before the election. "Angry and increasingly isolated, the president is more unpredictable than ever", reported Politico this week, in one of many behind-the-scenes accounts portraying Trump as being driven to distraction by this latest development.

In addition, the warrant said it related in part to election laws.

In this case, Mueller opted to refer the matter to federal prosecutors in Manhattan.

Federal Bureau of Investigation raids office of Trump lawyer Michael...

"This "& elsewhererdquo; within such Circumstance is referring to the U.S. Legal Professional's Business Office at the Southern District of NY.

A spokesman for Mueller's office did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

Mueller referred the matter to the USA attorney's office in Manhattan. The New York Times first reported Monday's raid.

Ryan slammed the raid as "completely inappropriate and unnecessary".

Berman was a campaign donor to Trump, a former law partner of Rudy Giuliani and a close friend of former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. The New York Times and Washington Post have said that Cohen is under investigation for potential bank fraud, wire fraud and campaign-finance violations. Trump believed Mueller's prosecutors and investigators were politically biased. The episode has deeply unsettled White House aides, Justice Department officials and lawmakers from both parties, who believe the president may use it as a pretext to purge the team leading the investigation into Russian Federation meddling in the 2016 election.

Tracy Miner, a white-collar defense attorney at Demeo LLP in Boston, said she was stunned when she heard about the raid. Daniels claims that she had an affair with Trump in 2006, a year after his marriage to his current wife, Melania, and that Cohen allegedly pressured her to sign a non-disclosure agreement barring her from going public about the affair.
